Dems 'backed U-tapao plan'

Plodprasop says deal was signed in 2010

Science and Technology Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi insisted yesterday the Nasa project at U-tapao airport in Rayong was initiated under the Democrat-led administration.

Mr Plodprasop said the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) had signed an agreement with the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) when Democrat Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich served as the science and technology minister.

He called on the Democrat Party, which is critical of the Nasa project, to clarify details regarding the signing of the agreement in September 2010.

    bula,

"The parties he supported all won elections."
    Electoral fraud.

"Coup destroyed everything that is about rule of law."
Removed a criminal to restore rule of law.

"His only politically motivated prison term conviction was because he gave consent for his wife to purchase properties as required by law of Thailand."
Conflict of interest. Illegal. No double standards.

"The well being of Thais and Thailand is not in their agenda at all."
A very accurate description of Thaksin and his cronies.

There is a growing paralysis and delay with the government in many issues like this NASA project. The Demo is trying to destabilized the government at every chance. With judiciary power and controversial decisions, the government is fearful. The country will suffered due to the Demo tunnel vision and shallow agenda.

Once again, the Prachathipat party's only concerned is their personal grievances with Thaksin. The well being of Thais and Thailand is not in their agenda at all. It is also insulting to the USA government that it used such worthwhile project in exchange for a US entry visa for Thaksin.

If I understand all the Democrats are saying is that this needs to be transparently explained and that under the Constitution this needs to go through Parliament. Looks to me like someone in government did not think it through and make sure it got on the cabinet and parliament agenda before the session closed. Now the government who should have got this sorted is trying to shift the blame by creating an illusion of opposition where there is none provided these are simple humanitarian and weather projects as has been explained and proper approval procedures are followed

Politics aside, IMO, here's the key"

"Mr Somchet said Thailand had a better geographic location for studies in the region and the Nasa project would benefit Thailand in terms of weather predictions and prevention of natural disasters such as flooding."

If it benefits Thailand, does not involve military aircraft & is "straightforward" as characterized by First Army Commander Lt Gen Udomdej Sitabutra, then why not rapidly move forward? Please, Dem's cooperate for the sake of the country on All of these non-political issues, like infrastructure, flood control, etc. Don't imitate the USA's recent proclivity for "opposition by obstruction."
    Thank you.

    "Dems 'backed U-tapao plan'
They are politicians first and nothing else matters...They will say anything or do any thing to discredit the other side, and the other side will say anything or do anything to discredit them.
Neither side lets truth get in their way.
