Tourist's killers identified

Phuket police on Saturday said they had identified the two men who stabbed to death an Australian woman and expect to issue arrest warrants for them very soon.

Pol Maj Gen Chanasit Wattanawarangkul, the Phuket chief, said police were questioning additional witnesses and drawing sketches of suspects.  Warrants were likely to be issued Saturday night.

Michelle Elizabeth Smith, 60, and her friend, Tammee Lynn, were walking back to their hotel after having dinner on Thursday when Smith was attacked by two men on a motorcycle who tried to snatch her bag.

The police are telling the mafias to surrender their guys or risk raiding their business, the police knows who the attackers are but just want them to walk into the police station themselves. Its EuroCup week these policemen not going to miss a single match.

Thailand used to be "have fun, will travel".

Now it could lure a different caliber of visitor, the bounty hunter: "have gun, will travel".

Is that 300,000 Baht "dead or alive"?

  • Discussion 4 : 23 Jun 2012 at 22.304

it seems that the police usually arrest (or at least secure them) the suspects to ensure that they dont kill again.lso sending the a telegram to surrender is a little backwardjustice . also if they surrender they usually get half their sentenses suppended . if it were your mother vicitiously killed would you like to see such kindness to the one that took your moms life .i dont understand thai policies .

"Pol Maj Gen Chanasit said authorities had identified the two attackers and their whereabouts, but declined to disclose their names.""Police on Saturday morning placed a bounty on the men for 300,000 baht." So the first two dead bodies they find, the shoot and bring in and claim there own bounty. and then release the names?

  • Discussion 2 : 23 Jun 2012 at 21.442

"He urged the suspects to surrender to police or face the risk of an extra-judicial killing if they resist arrest."

Who said Thailand's justice system is not fair? The police now give warnings about giving up or be setenced to death without a trial. Fair warning, no?
