Gunmen shoot dead three on Mekong boat

Three shot dead

Three people have been shot dead onboard a long-tailed boat in an outbreak of violence on the Mekong River following the murder of 13 Chinese sailors more than eight months ago.

The victims, believed to be Myanmar nationals, were shot by an unidentified armed group on Friday as their speedboat was travelling about 10km north of the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet, a source said.

The area is notorious for drug smuggling.

Correct Disc. #1. In the good old days of opium and heroin, Thailand could get its cut of the profit by turning a blind-eye to the drugs transiting through the country and out to “the world”. Now, sadly, ‘ice’ found a market among Thais and the even greater profits to be made trump the destruction of society as palms are greased and the drugs flow in. Greed rules.

    Time to "clean-op" this area.

In fact, there has been more violence associated with 'ice' than opium!
