Cambodia to move troops

Withdrawal from temple area would ease tensions

Cambodia is expected to announce the withdrawal of troops from a demilitarised zone near Preah Vihear temple today.

The gesture is timed to coincide with the official start of the 45th Asean Foreign Ministers Meeting in Phnom Penh, military sources said.

The Cambodian troop withdrawal would represent a positive move towards improved relations between the two governments, observers said.

meme d#1 Let's hope not. I personally wrote Hun Sen and requested that he keep Veera and Ratree in prison until their sentences are up. Like you, I believe in "rule of law". BTW - they're not political prisoners - just spies and trespassers.

Since both sides went originally to the ICJ together to ask for judgement on Preah Vihear, both sides should respect the court's judgements, so perhaps Camodia does not deserve any special praise for doing this. Having said that, should we all not welcome all actions that reduce the chances of conflict and loss of life?

Re: D1 Is it Thaksin's fault that these people went there illegally for the sole purpose to spark a war? Why did your savior Abhisit not get them out? Why did his foreign minister have such poor relations with every ASEAN member?

"The Cambodian troop withdrawal would represent a positive move towards improved relations between the two governments, observers said."

This time Dem and its supporters will not make accusation that it is due to Thaksin pulling a string behind. They will all keep quiet.
