Korkaew issues another threat

If the Constitution Court rules that the charter amendment bill is aimd at toppling the democratic administration and constitutional monarchy, the red-shirts will come out in force and take decisive action, Pheu Thai list-MP and United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship co-leader Korkaew Pikulthong said on Wednesday.

Mr Korkaew said the people who have fought for democracy and supported the Yingluck Shinawatra government would definitely not accept such a ruling.

If PTP is dissolved it is no big deal - they'll reform as a new party, the ex-banned 111 TRT politicians will take over, and Yingluck and continue on as PM. I believe this is more of scare tactics than an actual threat. His threats are of course non-democratic, but so are judicial coups.

Mr Korkaew is an MP and out of jail on bail.
"..get the court (judges) arrested. If police refuse to do that, the people would take the law into their own hands."
Aren't exactly these actions not allowed under Article 68 of the constitution.

The red law is not democracy, its dictatorship. When will the red supporters here realize it, it has nothing to do about democracy and rights of thai citizens. This is Thaksin's last stance of freedom before he wages war with his own people. This is words from the inner circle for those who have no friends in the political system.

AGAIN: Many pro-putschist commenters are referring to "the duke of law" but, never condemn the ILLEGAL and anti-constitutional coup of 2006.

And beside that, it is very dubious the court itself is abiding by the ;aw and most experts suggest the court does not have the right to intervene at this stage.

I am AGAINST the reconciliation plan and hope it will fail. But I am AGAINST the court claiming powers it does not, and should not have.

kasper #7, bikeme #24 - I replied to your postings but BP does not practice fair exchange of views and I have yet to see the replies. Depending on the media's reporting on who say what is a mistake. It does not give you an understanding on the real sentiment on the ground. The picture painted by Korkaew is not a rosy one and the scenario is a real concern. His views were shared by law experts and community leaders though they expressed them in a different manner and from different platforms than that of Korkaew's.

Issued before the court's verdict, this threat serves only one purpose.

  • Discussion 26 : 12 Jul 2012 at 03.2126

Korkaew - a PTP MP just threatened the lives and safety of the judges, soldiers charged with their protection, as well as the stability and future of some 65 million people. Even if the court rules in PTP's favor, it will be seen as a capitulation to threats of violence, and the abandonment of rule of law. Everyone's lives are then put in danger, including Korkaew's.

#21 - you had a mass murdering despot erasing any and all checks and balances - the military would have been remiss not to throw him out - they will be remiss if they don't throw him out again. That's what a nation's military is there for - against all enemies foreign and domestic, when diplomacy and rule of law fail, they are the ultimate check and balance.

D7 Bula - You can spin it as an "opinion" and an "observation", but in reality it is a thinly veiled threat to lynch the judges if they decide against his people (and he who hides in Dubai) and a thinly veiled threat to attack anyone one who tries to defend the judges.

To defend someone making such threats is mindless gullibility, the UDD & PTP should be distancing themselves from such rhetoric ... what happened to working towards reconciliation and prosperity? This isn't an avenue in that direction.

So UDD - run by Thaksin - plans on rounding up the judges, and will fight "tooth and nail" the soldiers should they intervene. Boy, sounds like treason, sedition, and subversion to me, and when you count Thaksin's extensive foreign corporate-financier backing, foreign-funded treason at that.
