NACC finds Suthep abused authority

The National Anti-Corruption Commission has found Suthep Thaugsuban intentionally exceeded his authority by interfering in the work of government officials while serving as deputy prime minister in the previous government under Abhisit Vejjajiva in violation of the constitution.

The finding could lead to his being banned from politics for five years.

The NACC investigated the matter after a group of Pheu Thai MPs, totalling at least one-fourth of the entire number of MPs in the House of Representatives, filed a petition with the senate speaker seeking the removal of Mr Suthep, then secretary-general of the Democrat Party, as deputy prime minister.

DOM D16: The point is symbolic and he should he remembered for this (and a lot else far more series) in the history books.

These people have gotten off act-free for decades and it is time to begin, even if only in small ways to hold them accountable.

I'm not a fan of Suthep but I think these 5 year bans are absurd, banned politicians continue quite legally to be involved behind the scenes so what is the point?

Suthep couldn't care less about a political ban for life, as he learned from squarehead how to manage a political party from far away.

I think Abhisit should give his own party advice. Keep his opinion to himself and his party. Clean up your own back yard Mark. You have brought these actions on yourself by laying false charges against the PT and tying up the courts with continuous attacts on the opposition. Now it is the PT's turn to attack. So far your clean image is starting to crumble. You are so lucky to have such loyal and uneducated followers that believe your lies. I see right through you Mark. So do all the farmers who you call stupid.

Discussion 10 lancelot : arson is a criminal offence, and illegal seizure of airports is also a crime. It actually makes no difference between these two criminal acts, but the difference is that red shirts faced trials and go to jail while the yellow shirts did not. Persons with common sense dislike this kind of double standard.

android D8: "red shirts faced trials, yellow shirts not even prosecuted. Red shirts go to jail, yellow shirts walk free in streets. This is double standard."

it looks more like red shirts become ministers and benefit from parliamentary immunity. And while you complain about double standards... isn't it 'your' government that is in charge? Why not blame Phuea Thai for not bringing all those yellows to court and behind bars? Is it the yellows fault, that Phuea Thai has time for nothing else than how to bring Thaksin back?

While flood prevention measures flounder ,the rice market collapses, Southern violence escalates and the drug war fails PTP MP's stuff around with this petty stuff like kids saying I gotcha.

This is only to pressure the Dems to agree to allow TS back in. What or who is TS so afraid of.

I don't support Yellow/PAD and Red/UDD, but the Yellow didn't do any arsons...they occupied airports (Donmuang and Suwanaphoom) but didn't destroy them...

After reading the headline, I was ready to criticize Suthep, but with all the serious things that go on, this is the best PT could come up with?
