Reckon PT have done the Dems a favour as its time they moved beyond the old warhorses like Khun Suthep to a younger generation (there are quite a few on the other side who should similarly be put out to grass, although I would miss my daily ration of Chalermisms to name but one). Not that this ban will make much difference if past 5 years bans are anything to go by

Should be get banned, and that is far from a done deal as it has to pass through the Senate, in which half of the member were selected by important people, then I would imagine the majority of Dems would be quite happy as I don't think he has been very helpful to win over voters outside his family base in Suratthani.

Well now, ban him for 5 years for this heinous crime and then lets move onto the next case which is political interference by Mr T. How many examples do they need to get a 5 year ban.

I'll try to sound like a red shirt - "Political persecution!! Political persecution!! Political persecution!!!

    Quite boring, isn't it.

musashi - "The draft-dodger might have asked his deputy to write that letter"

Leave Thaksin's son out of this. Just because Oak got "excused" from military duty doesn't make him a draft dodger does it?

Charge him, try him and, if found guilty, send him to jail. Suspension from politics means nothing. Suspended sentences mean nothing.

Corruption will not disappear until a large number of the top people with their snouts in the trough end up in jail - from all parts of the political spectrum.

I'm sure this sort of thing goes on a lot in Thai governance, he should be banned to set an example, it would add some credibility to the judiciary that a democrat was finally banned, we wouldn't miss him, and the NACC can be emboldened to investigate simliar activity going on as we speak.

Keep it going! Good job! Nail ALL wrong doers.

"Even though Mr Suthep sent his staff to ask for the letter back ..."

Every criminal leaves an alibi behind. It's time. Suthep Thug should be punished for his wrongdoings.

The draft-dodger might have asked his deputy to write that letter. Surely Suthep haven't the gumption to send a bus-load of Dem MPs to work in one ministry without the blessings of AV?
