The problem with leasing out land or giving it to poor farmers is 'MONEY' a new motorbike is worth more face than working the land, plus the rich will employ them, cheap weeding the grounds of their new resorts! They complain they have no work...because they gave them rights away when they sold the land 'lent' to them in the first place.

I don't know whether the owners of those resorts are influentially linked with some big guys or elites or not.
They seemed to be no protection from those powerful figures.
This is quite different from the case of Kao Soidao...yes, it's different!

3,300 bodies eh ,even in buses that would be more than 100 large units. I think someone is exaggerating a wee bit.

Anyway, now the wrecking crew is on a roll, how about returning the Alpine Resort to the temple the original owner donated it to. It currently "belongs " to an absentee landlord who won't be back to claim it any time soon.

I don't know the backstory here but wow, talk about your Scorched-Earth policies. Couldn't the Government simply assume ownership of the property and make some good use of it, seeing as how it's already built? Seems like a huge waste just to demolish it.

Such an incident could only happen in the hands of incapable government.

Sad about forced evictions. How much effort was put in to recycling building materials? ...or were all the materials crushed and destroyed? Proceeds from sale of re-cycled materials could be paid to property owners who lost their investments.

Wow, 3,300 uniformed and armed young men to evict families from the houses they have lived in for years that suddenly became illegally occupation. Why isn’t this amount of man-power and machinery used in the civil-war south of Thailand where people are being killed as we speak? And have been for over a decade?

The raid was based on a claim of encroachment - not actual facts?

Horrible that this had to happen. The same corrupt government officials who allowed this encroachment to happen in the first place, and profited immensely from it, now are demolishing it! Crazy.

Corruption. #1 problem in Thailand today.
