Chinese boxer, judges, referee all beat Kaew for gold

LONDON : The crowd booed and international announcers openly criticised yet another unjust boxing decision that prevented Kaew Pongprayoon from winning a gold medal Sunday morning.

The crowd, foreign commentators and millions around the world saw Kaew defeat Zou Shiming of China for the gold medal in the light flyweight division.

But five judges and referee Yasar Cinar of Turkey saw Zou edge Kaew by one point in each of the rounds, and emerge with victory and gold.

Kaew, gracious as always, accepted the silver. It was a consolation prize, the only medal by Thai boxers at the London Games.

i don't know how aware many people are at just how lucky shiming zou was to win his semi-final over paddy barnes. barnes clearly outboxed zou and the fight finished 15-15, with zou given the decision on countback which was odd as anyone with an eye in their head could see that paddy threw and landed more punches. zou is a classy operator at times, but he is also a very cynical boxer and will do whatever it takes to win, but he was so so lucky to get gold from these games. the final should have been barnes v kaew, that would have been a great fight free from controversy with just the best man winning.

Discussion 65: What has this got to do with China? If you are not Kaew and you are not one of his close friends and family, I don't think it concerns you. You are not respecting the results of the match! If these two boxers were labelled blue and red, and red won, you would not complain about the result. Since they wore flags, for some reason (maybe nationalism) it concerns the whole of China and the whole of Thailand. To be honest, you should let it go.

China, if you want to overtake your rival counterpart in the gold medal tally, just go and hold your own damn game where you and the States can compete. DO NOT come to the Olympics if you only want to vie with each other! The Olympics is about sportsmanship, honour, fair play, and having fun. If you cannot fulfill the rules and yet you rob people' victory, like I said, set up your own contest where you can cheat all the heck you want. Oh god, it's just so frustrating. This Thai boxer has been trying for the Olympics for 12 years and you blew him to pieces only one moment with your spoils and stratagems. Wow holy moly, craving much?! Why are you so hungry for triumph? I know you wouldn't care but seriously though how many golds have you already robbed from their true victors in this 2012 Olympics??

And the U.K.? I'd want to say "SHAME ON YOU". I've watched loads of the games and the judges were totally blind and off base. How could you let those judges determine the outcome when they and the Olympians were from the same country? Are you blind or are you purposely in denial to see? I am very disappointed and will no longer watch the Olympics from now on.

No idea who should have won, but I have to ask why Thailand did not make a timely objection? Its an admittedly short time period, but surely the Thai team knew about the five minute rule. If they didn't, they were negligent. If they did and thought there man won but failed to make an objection, they were also negligent.

The point of the frustration by Thailand is that the judges were clearly prejudicial against the person who happened to be the Thai boxer. I don't know that it would have made any difference if the person had been some other country, but it certainly appears that they favored the China boxer when it was clear to all that viewed the match that the China boxer was the less capable of the two competitors. Your comments seems to be an attempt to justify or rationalize the selection of the China boxer as the victor of the match when it was obvious to all that he was not worthy of the metal.

This boxing match is between two boxers. It has got nothing to do with Thailand and China. Actually, it will not change the lives of Thais. So just accept the reality.

Why all the fuss? In every game, in every society, there is no such thing as fair. There are many events in the Olympics which are subjective, such as diving, gymnastics. So Thais are upset because their man lost. Suppose these two fighters were not wearing flags, would Thais really care? Thailand, like most countries are not fair. Winners in society are usually smart people. Get over it.

Out of my sight, there's nothing correct.
I've seen that fight and i reviewed it several times.
Starting with the points, given to the boxers, I can not see how the judges were counting.
    1 landed hit=1/10 point? 1/5 point?
What about that infight? Khaew landed at at least 8 punches within seconds.
And what about those "Nearly Knock Outs"?
I am sorry! The decissions had absolutely no olympic sense!

Discussion 52. Abbub. It is clear that you did not watch the fight. Stop embarrassing yourself by commenting on things you don't know about.
