Chinese boxer, judges, referee all beat Kaew for gold

LONDON : The crowd booed and international announcers openly criticised yet another unjust boxing decision that prevented Kaew Pongprayoon from winning a gold medal Sunday morning.

The crowd, foreign commentators and millions around the world saw Kaew defeat Zou Shiming of China for the gold medal in the light flyweight division.

But five judges and referee Yasar Cinar of Turkey saw Zou edge Kaew by one point in each of the rounds, and emerge with victory and gold.

Kaew, gracious as always, accepted the silver. It was a consolation prize, the only medal by Thai boxers at the London Games.

It was painful and frustrating to hear the decision, as when watching the bout, the Thai fighter clearly outboxed the Chinese. In the day and age of high definition recording, it seems judging would be held to more transparent accountability, as hindsight can easily show if they were biased.

I am not surprised at yet another perplexing Olympic boxing decision. I am surprised the International Boxing Association (AIBA) has chosen legal action against the BBC for the 'cash for medals' allegations. This could get interesting. And a long overdue cleanup enforced, with judges having to explain their choices.
This type of decision tarnishes all Olympic medals.

Yes, the judges and referee all joined together in an Olympic conspiracy to deny Thailand it's traditional gold medal. It always their fault isn't it?

The worst judging I have ever seen in the Olympic's. This Chia fighter shouldnt have even received a bronze. What a joke. Sad for Thailand. Clearly Thai was the winner.

The Turkish ref was a disgrace. We in the UK all know who the true winner was. Kaew you should not feel that you failed, even though you won silver, you should feel happy you did your country proud. Well Done.

It was bogus! The Chinese fighter should have been disqualified for repeatedly charging ahead while holding
Kaew. And the Chinese fighter held alomost the whole second round in the previous fight. Very fishy!

The world knows who won that fight. The crowd in London was clearly booing the judges decision.

Kaew outfought his opponent consistently, dropping him to his knees repeatedly. And he also foughtwith dignity and without resorting to the holds and other tactics of his opponent.

The fight was clearly Kaew's. Shame on the judges for so blatantly mis-calling the fight.
