Prayuth asks Tarit to stop blaming army

The army chief has asked the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to stop accusing its soldiers of killing red shirt demonstrators during the crackdown on their protest in 2010.

The army earlier warned that information from the DSI's investigation into the crackdown should be kept confidential until court proceedings end.

Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha yesterday said he had talked to DSI chief Tarit Pengdith about the agency's public statements regarding its investigation into the crackdown.

So, who actually burnt the city... And who ordered them to do so ? If the police could not do their job for whoever reasons ... The army had no choice.. They had to protect the country and the innocent Thai people.

Well someone must have killed those 91 red shirts and if it wasn't the army, who was it?

I totally agree that many of those deaths were the result of these protesters reducing Bangkok to a state of anarch, but still, did they deserve to die? I don't think so.

If the army and policies had policed the capital a bit better, most if not all of these deaths could have been avoided.

    1974, 1991 , 2010 : don't ask, it is never their fault.

someone needs to tell the general that the days of him ordering everyone outside of the military around are gone, and force him to sit and watch all of the video and photo evidence of the soldiers firing into the crowds that I have seen, and there is a lot more around than just what I have seen

He is absolutely correct to do so if the accusations are false.

I suspect that you and I are not "the people" and if you personally "know" what he did that summer then you should speak out and offer the truth to the people. Of course if you are only talking in generalities then you also may be falsely accusing Abhisit.

I don't see you mention the 2,500 who died in the drug war, nor the 85 who died at Tak Bai or the more than 30 who died at Kru Sae all on Thaksins watch or are they of no importance?

Where is the outrage for a city under siege? During the occupation of BKK, terrorists roamed city streets, lobbing grenades onto the sky-train, snipers killing military commanders, thugs stopping and searching Thai citizens vehicles without authority. The list could go on. Ordinary Thai citizens, who only want to work and support their families, were denied this basic right. At what point does a government have to act to protect the rights of Thai citizens?

I may be wrong but Prayuth seems to imply that some of the dead red shirts committed suicide.

Looks like Gen. Prayuth may have attended the draft dodger's lectures on "The Art of Dodging".

If then PM AV took a more decisive action earlier, instead of waiting until the Red Shirts finished building up their force, loss of lives would be a lot less, particularly, among the innocent bystanders, who had M-79s raining down on their heads. So, whatever went right or wrong belonged to the civilian leadership under then PM AV, not the Army.

"Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, who was prime minister during the protests, said his party would take legal action against officials who falsely accused them in relation to the crackdown."

91 people died on AV's watch. He is still on a denial state. But we, the people, know what he did on that summer.
