Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha has filed a defamation lawsuit against Robert Amsterdam, a Canadian lawyer representing ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
Gen Prayuth on Friday sent his representative to file a libel suit with Lumpini police station against Mr Amsterdam and an unidentified Thai woman who acted as his translator.
The general has accused the attorney and his translator of defaming the army while addressing a gathering of red shirt supporters at Ratchaprasong intersection on May 19. A CD of Mr Amsterdam's speech was presented as evidence.
