Thawil defends govt actions in 2010

People outside the justice system continually try to put all the blame on state authorities for the damage done in the red-shirt protests in 2010 when in fact everyone involved was responsible, PM's Office adviser Thawil Pliensri said on Thursday.

Mr Thawil was secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC) and secretary-general of the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES) set up by the previous government under then prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to handle the protests led by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD).

He was transferred to an advisory post at the Prime Minister's Office after the Pheu Thai-led government took office.

It also goes against the army line and the Abhisit line, all sides claim that someone else was to blame. Thawil is stating a self evident truth, history will show that all sides were to blame though not equally to blame. Anyone who thinks that all the blame lies on one side is politically naive.

Interesting that someone within the present govt (albeit also part of the prvious govt) should come out and say this, it goes entirely against the UDD line on what really happened and who was responsible, as tacitly supported by Peau Thai.

Lets simply and chronologically see who was responsible
1/ The financier from the country far away
2/ The red leadership for acting like his mercenaries and incite hatred violence and arson
3/ Armed elements within the red fortress who wanted to create a situation forcing the army to defend themselves
4/ The police for doing nothing or simply helping the reds...
Is this clear enough?? Or do people want to re-write history????

I find it surprising (given how inept Thai governments, the police and the Army have been shown to be) that it is so hard to find anyone who does not believe that everything that happened was the precise result of someone's careful evil planning.
Bad things can be done by evil people, by good people with mistaken beliefs and by stupidity, panic and incompetence. In this country we have enough examples of all of these so why are we stuck in taking as if everything that happened was black and white with no shades of grey?

Those who are only interested in retribution and punishment may want to consider that, history shows vengeance usually goes in cycles and rarely ends cleanly or happily. Anyone who considers reconciliation worth trying for should also remember that this means that nobody can get everything they want.

The Army and members of the past Government should not even give the dignity of a denial to those trying to politicize the Bangkok Riots. Simply ignore them.

It's impossible to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Red Shirts have been told (and believe) that Abhisit and Suthep ordered soldiers to shoot to kill. Even western educated posters on here continue to insist that is the case.

Firstly, only the people present when the order was given know exactly what was said. And secondly, the restraint shown by the government for two months was apparent. It doesn't make sense they should deliberately set out to kill protesters or use snipers. If they wanted to deploy snipers, surely Jatuporn and Nattawut would have given their last speeches.

The more that is exposed the more the spotlight will turn to the red management and in particular the single decision made by Mr or MRS XX to prolong the riots. Whoever that person was this act will come back to bite him or her one day.

The reds are digging their own trap by their fanatical attempts to rewrite history. My wish is the hole becomes so deep radical reds never get out.

    Very difficult to reconcile !
The losers will consider themselves as "victims".
The winners will consider themselves as "upholders of the law".
No one accept to call himself "wrondoer"...
