Vorayuth cocaine rumours dismissed

National police spokesman Piya Uthayo has dismissed media reports that cocaine has been detected in the blood of Red Bull heir and hit-and-run suspect Vorayuth Yoovidhya.

The physical examination of Mr Vorayuth, who was charged with hit-and-run and drink-driving in a Sept 3 incident which killed Pol Snr Sgt Maj Wichian Klanprasert, is yet to be completed, Pol Maj Gen Piya said.

Any information about the test results of the suspect, who is a grandson of Chaleo Yoovidhya, the late founder of the Red Bull energy drink empire, would be confidential. He urged the media to exercise caution in reporting the story.

So the blood tests came in a foreign language... so no one can translate/change them yet? he still had high blood alcohol, therefore shouldnt have been driving.Perhaps they should test his brain, im sure there wont be much to find there...

Interesting that the police allowed the blood samples to be taken at a private hospital, seeing as the family is a major stockholder in one of the major private hospitals in Bangkok. Any guess which private hospital took the sample? While it's better than nothing that they also sent a sample to the government hospital for analysis, this only sets up doubts about each hospitals methods and handling of evidence should the results differ. A valuable commodity should this ever go to trial.

The police spokesman said "Any information about the test results of the suspect, who is a grandson of Chaleo Yoovidhya, the late founder of the Red Bull energy drink empire, would be confidential." I'm sure Bangkok Post reporters responded with the question that if the alcohol levels were released to the public, how is it that the presence of other substances not be considered available to the public. We'll, probably not. If it took us six weeks to find out one of the (first) shooters in the recent road rage incident was the nephew of the MP involved, is there any hope at all for hard hitting questions by the press here in Thailand (that comment will probably get my post banned).

"want blood tested at a private hospital" what rubbish, would your average citizen be granted the same opportunity. As for Pol Lt Col Pannapon missing his appointment - well that says "I don't take your seriously" That's just disrespectful so bye bye job and pension should be the outcome of that disrespect.
