Chiang Mai Muslims rally against film

About 30 Muslims gathered outside the United States consulate general in Chiang Mai on Wednesday to protest against the controversial anti-Islam US-made film "Innocence of Muslims", reports said.

Chiang Mai Islamic Committee adviser Mustafa Hassan led the group read out a statement denouncing the two-hour movie - a film that has sparked violence and protests in about 20 countries.

He then handed the statement on behalf of the Chiang Mai Islamic Committee and other Islamic committees of the northern provinces to a representative of the US consulate general.

... dear Muslim brothers and sisters. It's your time to learn about tolerance. Become tolerant and better yourself.

I don't care about believings of people, I respect the freedom of thought. I blame and condamn the uncivilized behaviour of these muslim protesters... They should look at themselves in the mirror. In many countries the muslims show bigotry and narrow-mindedness...

Love the land you live in. Following the far-away fanatic' path is your option? Where did you hide as innocent Muslims in South slain by terrorists? That' absurd!

Discussion 1 comment is irrelevant and outrageous. People offended by a poisonous attack on their beliefs have the right of peaceful protest. If the US protects Jewish people against the display of Nazi symbols and denials of the holocaust, they should also protect Muslims against hateful attacks on their traditions.

Where were they when the Talibans reduced a giant Buddha statue in Afghanistan, which stood for more than a thousand years, to rubbles a few years ago?

The film is two hours long? I couldn't stand to watch more than a few minutes of the boring, amateurish nonsense. If the Islamic world hadn't violently protested it, no one would ever have heard of it.
