House accepts bill to aid ex-MPs

- +

The House has approved in principle a private members' bill to set up a fund to aid former MPs and senators who are sick or disabled, and their families.

The bill was proposed by a group of MPs led by a Pheu Thai MP for Nakhon Phanom, Phaichit Sriworakarn, and a Democrat MP for Kamphaeng Phet, Preecha Musikul. It was accepted for further consideration on Thursday by a vote of 325-3.

Mr Phaichit told parliament that the proposed fund was intended to subsidise former members of parliament who had served the country but now were sick or disabled, plus the families of those who had passed away.
