Pheu Thai wants new truth panel

The Pheu Thai Party wants the government to set up a new fact-finding commission on the political violence and crackdown of 2010, deputy spokesman Jirayu Huangsap said on Saturday.

Mr Jirayu said relatives of the red-shirt protesters killed and injured in the April and May 2010 events were unhappy with the report released last week by the Truth for Reconciliation Committee (TRC).He said Pheu Thai MPs for more than 20 provinces in the North, Northeast and Central plains reported receiving complaints from red-shirts’ relatives that the TRC report was biased. They were unhappy that the report placed heavy emphasis on the actions of the shadowy "men in black" and their links to the red shirts' United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), said Mr Jirayu. The TRC report has won support in other quarters for its conclusion that both the UDD and the Democrat-led government of the day had to accept responsibility for the way events played out.The relatives wanted to send as many as 10,000 representatives to Bangkok to ask the TRC and the National Human Rights Committee to produce facts on the 2010 events, said Mr...

mister disc 41, may be you and the aficionados of PAD/dems/pro coup must take a look in Google to see who is wrong. The sentence "C'est encore peu de vaincre, il faut savoir séduire" is from Voltaire.
By an other way, you cannot "offend me" with a childish propaganda, just make me complain you a little bit.

D.39 The voters were bribed with rice-pledging,minimum wage and cash handouts.
When there is a free and fair election i will let you know.
By the way, the Democrats got more then 11 million votes.
So many people (silent majority) can see the TRUTH.

I fully agree a new panel should be set up to carry out an extensive and in-depth investigation.

That the TRC had pro-PAD members is evident. But they did not make all the conclusions alone.

Set up an independent committee with foreign observers and advisors. It is the only way to get anyway. And....

    1) Work now within the framework of what you have from the report, and;

    2) trash the so-called reconciliation bill which is after all just a ploy to get everybody whitewashed and on friendly terms again without anybody being held accountable. Without accountability there can be no reconciliation, just a TS return and generals and their cohorts continuing to pull the strings.

Mister disc 36, since august 2011, no have "pretend" first minister in Thailand, only a legitimate first minister. Difficult to understand or accept for the extremists but it's the democracy, the worst system except all the others.

    Missus disc41:
I thank you for your comments and presumption that I quoted “Voltaire” in the context that you have cast it, but I’m afraid your wrong. The quote was in connection to a certain “Adam Weishaupt” who was an ardent student of “Voltaire” and greatly influenced by his works. Now I could go on but, no doubt you would understand what i meant.
(P.S. If I offended you with a previous post, please accept my humblest appoligies.)

A non partial investigation would be for the best to all sides however the problem lies within the ability of any investigation obtaining the truth and all information. Not so easy.

Disc31 - "If the panel is International and obviously neutral, no side can argue with that for fairness."

Agree... However, there is not a chance that Thais (of any colour) will allow foreigners to report on what happened in 2010. And if Peua Thai set up a new committee (to replace the one they used to like), then there is not a chance it will be impartial - one only needs to look at the cronyism and nepotism that has occurred since last August to see how shameless Peua Thai is.

Mister disc 35, i think you want to talk about "Voltaire". But, read this philosopher and you will see that he would hate the privileged in Thailand and the flagrant injustice of it society. And you will see too that his sentence was about the love between 2 people, not about the demagogy.

If surplus tax money funds politician trips abroad for friends and family, may I stop paying taxes???

Everyone is facing horrible increases in the cost of living, yet our tax money goes to seeing idiot politicians go abroad on our dime???

What will the government do if we stop paying taxes? Why should we pay taxes, if this is how it is spent???
