Dems: Yongyuth not entitled to pardon

Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit is not entitled to be cleared of any wrongdoing under a pardon act, Democrat Party MP for Songkhla Wirat Kalayasiri said on Sunday.

Mr Wirat, a member of the Democrat Party's legal team, said government officials who were entitled to be cleared of wrongdoing under the pardon act must have been punished in the penal system before the law took effect.

Phranai Suwannarat, interior permanent secretary, said earlier Sunday that Mr Yongyuth had been cleared of wrongdoing under the pardon act issued in 2007 on the occasion of the 80th birthday of His Majesty the King. Under the act, government officials who had committed wrongdoing before 2007 were entitled to be regarded as not having done anything, he said.

I say send Suthep to jail, will you red cheer leaders dare say the same for Thaksin?

@disc 4 Abbub - I gave you a thumbs up because you spoke the truth about Suthep's dirty land deal. Now please follow up with Thaksin's alphine land case, and ratchada land deal. Lets balance it out, actually you might have to dig up some more dirt from the DEM side to balance Thaksin out.

Thank you, abbub D#4, for reminding us about the Democrat corruption. That was the Sor Phor Kor 4-01 land project scandal. Suthep, as Agricultural Minister in Phuket, gave land that was supposed to be for poor farmers in Phuket to members of 11 wealthy and influential families. Kanit Na Nakorn, then Attorney General, initially decided not to prosecute. Not surprising especially since Kanit's had very close ties with the Dems and that his own brother-in-law, Uthai Sooksirisamphan, was one of the recipients of land.

I wonder if this is in Kanit's TRC report.

PT don't concern themselves unduly with the law : they think they are above it.

Abbub: "Talk about illegal & land in the same breath"

Thank you for the history lesson : now perhaps you will give a similar assesment of what Thaksin has done ?. Try to keep it under 10 pages please.

Red shirts and their double standards continually amaze me.

Dick D1: Talk about illegal & land in the same breath.

Think back to the early 1990s...

Suthep was minister in the government that charged him with distributing land to farmers (in a nutshell)

He was found to also be giving it to wealthy friends and neighbors and suspected (evidently) of himself and his family thereby benefitting. BTW his son is currently under investigation for questionable land acquisition.

Suthep helped bring down that government as a result but has never gone to trial for that. Somehow though i doubt the dems care about that.

Don't hold your breath, Khun Songkhla. The Puea Thaksin regime already got control of police and judicial system.

sounds like Thai Politics as usual. "am too...are not...am too... are not am too...are not

l assume they are refering to the illegal land tittled change by the DPM when he was in charge at the time around 800 rai which eventually was sold on to the sinawatra family, but any wrong doing, first you have to face justice, being accountable for your crime, then accept your wrong doing and then its up to the kings pardon ,personally l find this method confusing, but obviously this man isnt fit and proper to hold a job in the cabinet, another transfer to the PM office along with the other general to await new destiny
