Chalerm ends Kamronwit job rumour

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung on Monday denied rumours that Metropolitan Police chief Kamronwit Thoopkrachang may be replaced in Bangkok by the deputy commissioner of the Southern Border Provinces Police Operation.

Mr Chalerm, who oversees police affairs, said rumours were common in the police organisation and were often untrue.

Asked whether Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit was a fit and proper person for the job, Mr Chalerm said the officer was well suited to the post because he was a competent and honest person. He said he admired the city police chief because he was a thug-catching type of officer, not a boot-licking one.
