PCD blitzes illegal toxic waste dumping

The Pollution Control Department (PCD) will launch a campaign against illegal dumping of chemical waste in five provinces where residents are under threat from hazardous garbage.

The five provinces are Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Samut Prakan, Prachin Buri and Rayong, where the country's major industrial estates are situated.

Under the campaign, authorities will strictly enforce the law on toxic waste management and transportation and come up with measures to promote waste reduction, Worasart Apaipong, the PCD deputy chief, said.

The whole wast management system needs updating, stop fly tipping provide proper wast disposal areas.Give offenders heavy fines confiscate the vehicle until the fine is paid.Thailand is rapidly becoming a garbage tip.I suspect industry is paying for the wast to be disposed of but those disposing it are dumping it elsewhere instead of the legitimate sites and so making a handsome profit.Just more corruption. The people doing the illegal dumping were probably the ones that never had insurance or did not wear crash helmets rode on the wrong side of the road so they think that laws are not made for them, sheer contempt.
