Thaksin: Govt to avoid conflict

Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra said his sister’s government will avoid conflicts like those that led to his ouster in a 2006 coup, even as it presses ahead with efforts to curb the power of the courts, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s ruling Pheu Thai party will probably drop plans to completely rewrite the constitution and amend it section-by-section instead to sidestep challenges that caused previous governments to fall, Thaksin said in an interview in Singapore yesterday.

It will also shelve a bill granting a broad amnesty that would include him until “the timing is right,” he said.

The "arrogance of the mighty" from Dubai has spoken.
Who will believe a word what this man says ? Mr.T lost his credibility many years ago. The fugitives hands are so dirty, he will never be able in his remaining life to clean his hands from
all the corruption and horrible events when he was the PM.

Um, can someone show the BP to Thailand's Foreign Minister, who claims he can't request Thaksin's extradition because he does not know where he is?

If the Post can find him, why can't the Foreign Minister?

"as it presses ahead with efforts to curb the power of the courts ..." Those nasty courts keep interfering whenever the government tries to do something illegal. They've simply got to go.

I would really like to view or read an interview with Yingluck Shinawatra, our official PM. Did she ever give an extended interview without any advisors around her? Does she ever answer any difficult questions? Why is her big brother interviewed all the time and not the official PM who is supposed to run the country?
The international press does not even report about the Thai government anymore because the world knows it is a banana republic run by monkeys.

How about curbing the influence of all those who seek to get at the courts, rather than curbing the courts? Perhaps then they could do their jobs without fear or favour? That would be a good idea, wouldn't it?

"It will also shelve a bill granting a broad amnesty that would include him until “the timing is right,” he said."

He just has to mention about himself again and again. I think he finally realize that many red shirts don't care about his amnesty bill.

If the governemnt which is supposed to help the people stopped trying to help Thaksin then all the chips would fall into place .His problems are not our problems .

Of course the Dems tell a different story.

"even as it presses ahead with efforts to curb the power of the courts" More blatant it cannot be said. The court (anywhere) is separate from the law makers, but it is very obvious our current law makers will try to get in through the back door in whatever method, including top police and army functions. This "clan" is the most divisive threat to the Thai people ever.
