Yongyuth won't attend cabinet meeting

Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit said on Tuesday he will not attend the cabinet meeting today, which is due to discuss the appointment of provincial governors, because he will be making an inspection of flooded areas in Prachin Buri Province.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who is attending the UN General Assembly,  had earlier assigned Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit, who is also the interior minister, to preside over the meeting in her stead.

However, the premier is reported to have called Mr Yongyuth from New York and instructed him to inspect the flood damage in Prachin Buri province instead. Mr Yongyuth will go to Government House to inform the cabinet of the change and assign another member to chair the meeting before heading off to Prachin Buri.
