Bangkok braces for more rain

People in Bangkok have been warned of more heavy rain until end of this week, and that the flooding might be too much for the drainage system to quickly handle.

The National Water and Flood Management Policy committee reported on Wednesday that many areas in Bangkok will continue to see heavy rain until Sunday, Sept 30.

The Meteorological Department said people in the capital city, particularly in  low-lying areas, might experience  some flooding if the rainfall exeeds drainage capacity.

Not to worry, the Yingluck is "on the case", I think. Haven't heard from her for some time. Rumor has it she went to the UN in New York but I haven't heard mention of her name even in any International Press. Maybe she's in some stateside Thai restaurant but the point is even with water level too high and things floating that normally don't, the government long ago assured us there will be no floods. Maybe it's a maha-mirage?

The water table is barely below street level .You wont get quick drainage when there is long periods of rain .Not filling canals would help and so would having garbage pick up points in slums so they dodnt throw it into the canal or on passing trains .Removal of slums would help greatly if low cost housing could be built .
