NAKHON PATHOM – A civil servant has filed a complaint with police accusing her boss of assaulting her at work, slapping her face and pulling her hair.

Rawipha Phuengporn, head of the finance department of Taiyawas Tambon Administrative Organisation in Nakhon Chaisi district, complained to police that her boss, TAO chief Somdet Suksomkit, attacked her on Sept 12, reports said.

She said she informed him that his 150,000 baht proposal for landscape renovation in the area had been rejected because he planned to hire a private contractor to do the job.

"Deputy chief of Nakhon Chaisi district Yongyuth Suanthong said he had been assigned to investigate the incident. If found guilty the TAO chief could be permanently relieved from duty."

Investigate what, should not take longer than the time to watch this video.

Sept 12 was 2 weeks ago, should have been gone by now, for 10 days.

My concern is not about what this man does not do at the office, judging by the many comments about his bare bones desk and folded arms.

The reason for this whole discussion and outrage is what this man did do and that is he physically assaulted another person and we wish to see justice done.

Disc 36 abbub: There might be other reason(s) that sparked Somdet's fury; but it still would not warrant his despicable behavior. Moreover as the head of the department, he should have exercised restraint in dealing with his subordinate. His actions are inexcusable.

Disc 2 & 25: Indeed nothing seems to have happened to Sombat Chartchaiwaiyawit, the customs official who was 'transferred to head office' after assaulting a junior officer at the airport. The assault took place in January 2012, with Bangkok Post reporting that "Customs Department director-general Somchai Poolsavasdi confirmed Sombat is being investigated." It has been 9 months since that incident happened but nothing has been reported about whether 'justice' has been served. It is time for Bangkok Post to pursue its investigative reporting and follow up Sombat's story. The same should be done with the case of Somdet Suksomkit - who, based on the stark evidence on hand, is unworthy of serving the public. To fellow Thai citizens: it is our duty to be more vigilant. We cannot afford to stay silent; or else we will drown in our own apathy.

OH YES they did! You better go back and watch that video again.

What I find shocking is his desk; it's too neat and clean and he just sits there with his hands folded! It appears that he hardly ever works at all, especially when you compare it with the desk next to him. He probably uses these little deals to rake in the tea money while deligating the real work to his subordinates who have had enough of it.

Its all about money. Buy not approving this means depriving him of kickbacks. Corruptions are beginning to surface clearer to the society now and hope there are more cases being brought up to the public attention.

This man must be punished for assaulting a woman. Hit hit her in front of a lot of people. there are plenty of witnesses and ofcourse this video. I would encourage BP to follow this kinds of cases to inform the readers the update.

What I find shocking is that no one tried to stop him in any way. Everyone just stood around to watch the disgraceful physical assault. Regardless of the lady's position or reason for his anger, this loser's assault is unacceptable.

Much as I love Thailand and her people, to my chagrin, I'm finding it more and more difficult each day to defend her. This and many other similar incidents are contrary to the Thainess that I've known and love(d).
