Prison battles cell phone tossers

TRANG - Two teenagers have been arrested for breaking into prison grounds and throwing mobile phones over the wall to inmates, reports said.

On Wednesday, correction officers of Trang Central Prison handed two  youths, aged 17 and 18, over to police and said they were caught trying to throw mobile phones over the prison wall.

The teenagers, whose name were withheld, were found in possession of six mobile phones, seven chargers, six SIM cards and a Bluetooth headset, all wrapped carefully in sponges and plastic bags.

    I think it does not really matter if they build a fence or not. If there is a fence then I am sure someone will make sure that there is a blind spot or a hole or whatever. TiT

    Is it any wonder that individuals are available to be the grunts if they are getting 10,000 baht?
    What lame answers since I am sure that the proper funds were there to put the proper security in place. As long as I have been here it never ceases to amaze that so many things go undone yet priorities can be put on 7 million junkets.

    I'm glad they were referred to as "throwers" near the end of the article, as I thought the term "tossers" was a bit derogatory to this enterprising pair.

    Could it be that the budget would be sufficient, if not for 30% (not much!) disappearing in someone's pockets.
