Nasa climate study to be reconsidered

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has called for a parliamentary debate on whether to allow the US space agency to conduct a climate study from U-tapao military airport in Rayong.

Norarat Pimsen, the deputy parliament secretary-general, said the proposed study will be discussed during a joint sitting to be convened on Friday.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) earlier this year asked the government for permission to use the airport to conduct what it called a Southeast Asia Composition, Cloud, Climate Coupling Regional Study.

After the totally nonchalant, undiplomatic and, well, rude responses from the Yingluck government and the Yingluck personally, I hope NASA tells them that if they want weather knowledge that will help avert problems, they can go fly their blimp.

The arrogance of the government is beyond belief.Even a wild dog dose not bite the hand that feeds it.I suspect the program would have shown without doubt the amount of pollution the country makes and possibly supplied some good photos of more illegal building that may just effect some senior people.

D1 : Maybe there is..."tea money" is not an unknown phenomenon in the U.S.
D2 : You might want to watch TV channels such as RT once in a while to broaden your horizon. Though it's the russian equilivant the U.S. channel Fox News, they do interview russian and chinese military leaders and report their views on such issues, which the western media do not. One example would be the continuous confirmations by these military leaders that an american/israeli/western attack on Iran will result in a 3rd world war as both Russia and China has promised to retaliate, possibly with nuclear weapons, should this happen.
Both countries also view the U.S. presence in this region as a serious threat and might act on it.

Oh no...not again, it was the democrats that found the NASA project was a danger to national security and that it might upset China , the argument did not make much sense then and still does not make sense, there is only a slim chance that the democrats have grasped the concept since then, one can only hope.

It will probably be a short debate as there is no tea money involved.
