Quack cosmetician to face manslaughter charge

An unlicensed cosmetologist who injected a foreign substance into the body of a woman who died on Tuesday will be charged with negligent manslaughter, deputy Bangkok police chief Pol Maj Gen Anuchai Lekbamrung said on Tuesday.

Athitiya Eiamyai, 33, was declared dead about 10.40am.

Athitiya, who was a product presenter, fell into a coma after receiving an injection from Thanat Natveerakul, 24, who practised illegally as a cosmetic clinician under the name “Dr Pop” despite having no medical licence.

    Very, very sad indeed. From what I have heard from a friend of Athitiya Eiamyai, I understand that she was warned and aware of the risk of her numerous and repeated treatments - including Botox, weekly skin whitening injections, and others - and that "Dr Pop" had been recommended by a colleague, because he is substantially cheaper than licensed 'beauticians'. On this last treatment, Athitiya - an only child who supported her parents with her well paid work as a product presenter, a.k.a. PG or Pretty Girl - is said to have saved some 40% or 30,000 baht, a saving that has come at the highest possible price. The last injection itself may have been just the straw that broke her back - and life; her body must have been full with all sorts of exogenous toxic substances.
    May Athitiya's tragic death open the eyes of all those who, for whatever reason, ruin their bodies with unnatural treatments.
