BoI applications exceed target

Applications for Board of Investment (BoI) privileges from January to September topped 804 billion baht, exceeding the set target of 800 billion baht, an informed source at the BoI said on Thursday.

The number of projects rose from the same period last year by 21.6% to 1,302, underscoring investor confidence in Thailand's prospects. The investment worth was up 97%, from 407 billion baht reported over the same period last year, the source said.

Of the total, 1,057 projects with a combined investment value of 433 billion baht were foreign direct investment.
Services and utilities accounted for the biggest share by value, with 415 projects and investment capital of 237 billion baht.

    D2 the difference is between investment applications and approved investment applications. If I am correct the website reflects the value of approved applications.

    For the first half of 2012, the BoI (website) publishes a total investment value of THB 338.276m. Here it is stated, THB 804bn for the first three quarters of 2012. Just a 'slight' difference, or .. WHO IS RIGHT?

    Happy days, very good news, shows the continued international confidence in Thailand, FDI, foreign direct investment is a good measure for how much confidence foreign investors have, if we compare with Malaysia, Vietnam & Philippines then the FDI in Thailand is much higher, and that is good sign and good news for us here.
