Poll: Rice pledging must continue

A majority of people want the government to continue with the rice pledging scheme and join hands with the opposition to prevent Bangkok from flooding, Abac Poll said.

A poll was conducted on 2,171 people between Oct 1-6 in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Ayutthaya, Lop Buri, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani and Songkhla.

Most of the respondents, 87.6%, knew of the rice pledging programme. Of these, 68.3% said the government should continue with it despite opposition.

I have yet to hear the "majority" cry about misuse of tax payers money, we must be living in a transparent and non corrupt country.

I guess this is a good example of 70% of Thais who think corruption is ok as long
    as they benefit as well.

Polls and the outcome depend on
The content of the question .EG do you think the rice scheme should be kept or Do you think the rice scheme needs re thinking. They would give completely different answers.
The social group and demographic area.
Those holding the pole and there governmental party allegiance and who paid fore the pole.
    Poles are meaningless.

I am sure should the poll revealed majority want rice pledging to discontinue, fanatic anti government posters will agree with the poll. Showed they are not concern too much about policies but just anti PTP. Guess they may have to wait till the next election to be dissappointed again.

The missing information: Who commissioned the poll?

  • Discussion 7 : 07 Oct 2012 at 15.167

Well, I think the rice pledging program is completely screwed up and should be junked, but if you asked me in a survey whether it should continue, with the only alternative being that it's cancelled and there is nothing to replace it with to help farmers, I might also answer that it should stay.

Thai opinion poll designers really need to improve their skills.

How many people within that 68.3% filed a tax return last year? If you do not pay taxes, your opinion on how they should be spent is irrelevant.

    Disc 1: onlooker.
You forget something: since when have 2,171 people been the majority of the people?

Survey results like these confirm that people are locked in a cyclic cycle of suffering .
