Defence volunteers slain in South (pic)

PATTANI - Three defence volunteers were killed and their weapons stolen in the deep South late on Monday morning.

Police received a report of the  attack in Pattani's Yaring district about noon.

Arriving at the scene they found one body next to a pickup truck and two bodies inside the vehicle.

    "More than 5,000 people have been killed and over 9,000 hurt in more than 11,000 incidents, about 3.5 a day, in the three southernmost provinces and the four districts of Songkhla since violence erupted afresh in January 2004, according to Deep South Watch."
