Twelve slain in far South over two days

A total of 12 people were killed by insurgents in Pattani, Narathiwat, Yala and southern Songkhla in a series of attacks stretching over Monday and Tuesday.

Police said two rubber tappers were ambushed and killed on a local road at a rubber plantation in Pattani's Khok Pho district early Tuesday morning.

They were identified as Phon Phetsorn, 66, and his wife Nid, 68, residents of Ban Kluay in tambon Na Pradu of Khok Pho district.

dumm, the PTP government could solve all the problems and still never get a vote because of the way Thaksin treated people in the South. No votes, no concern, period.

    brilliant D8

I don't follow your logic when you say that PT doesn't care about the South because there are no votes to be gained, surely if PT were to solve the Southern problem the locals would switch sides and vote for them in their tens of thousands.

The Dems already have the votes, surely they are the ones with nothing to gain.

d1: Why would the regime care about Thais in the south, they did not vote for the fugitive anyway ...

The Dark Side hits the nail on the head. No money to be made, buy more importantly, no votes to be gained. so PTP doesn't care.

In just two days, twelve more innocent people are killed in the neglected lawless south and the most profound statement from the clueless authorities is “Police blamed separatist militants for both attacks”. Ya think? We all know who is doing the bad. When is something going to be done that is good? In all honesty, does the government even care? Have a clue? A plan? Do they think this civil war will just end on its own? I’m astonished at the lack of real, action-creating concrete pro-active plans to end the daily slaughter of Thai citizens in the south. I’ve always felt that the government really doesn’t care that much about ALL Thai citizens, certainly not equally. The misfortunate citizens in the south are treated almost like a nuisance or a non-being. “Thai Love Thai”? “For the Purpose of Thailand”? Yea, right!

Any comment from Chalerm about some reaction from the government ?. Any messages of sympathy for the families and a determination to find the murderers ?.

Or did he choose to tinker with one of his other jobs this month ?.

Of course, by his own admission, you can expect this sort of thing in the South - so no need worry yourself about it.

Time to seal the southern border areas and implement a military-plan to eradicate the problem.

digraceful behaviour by these out of control muslim terrorists shooting innocence elderly people going about their daily life,it shows you that these people are not locals but twisted islamic terriost high of drugs without mercy.these good humble people need protection not by locl police nor headsman, but army crack units,if they are any ? the regime and the minster of defence, must bow their heads in shame with their shambolic plan of action, when is pm yingluck and her defence minster going to wake up and fight these lunatics, when is the penny going to drop, and what about DMP chalerm the commander in chief, its a national outrage in the lack of protecting the thai citizens.again it show that protocol and corruption breeds incompentcy

I don't believe that this southern problem could not be solved. What have the army done so far? Did the army ever consider sending a few brigades to flush out these separatists from these 3 provinces? See what and how the Israeli army operate to counter such problem. Or correct me if I am wrong that the government is waiting for them to bomb Bangkok to justify military action?

This mess in the south is too far out of control for PT to ignore any longer. One of the biggest problems with dealing with the south can be realized by looking back to the TRT government under PM Shinawatra. How did that government deal with it? Remember 130 + piled into trucks........ The south is ignored because there is no really big money to be made and truth be said, it does not really belong to Thailand. Give it back to Malaysia and let them deal with their own problem.
