Dems face libel suit for MIB remarks

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has instructed his lawyers and the Pheu Thai Party's legal team to bring a defamation lawsuit against Abhisit Vejjajiva and other leading Democrat Party members for their remarks about the role of the "men in black" in the United Front for Democrat against Dictatorship's (UDD) violent protests in 2010.

Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit said Mr Abhisit, deputy party leader Korn Chatikavanij, Surat Thani MP Suthep Thaugsuban, Songkhla MP Sirichok Sopha and Rayong MP Sathit Pitutecha would be sued.

These leading members of the Democrat Party had accused Thaksin of being behind the men in black, he said.

Maybe journalists can ask Thaksin in the future which part of the Thai justice system he accepts and which parts not. He could for example tell us why he should be allowed to continuously run away from justice and other people should follow the law. It would also be interesting why he does not show up to acknowledge lawsuits against him but he himself thinks he can start new lawsuits against anyone else. Even the red-shirts should be able to recognize the double standards which Thaksin wants for himself.

Disc9 Musashi - Errm... Has Abhisit been convicted? Of draft dodging? Of anything?

But hey... don't let facts get in the way of another Red Rant... BTW Dems represent 35% of the country - the educated, the business owners, in other words, the people who can see through Thaksin.

(Now go back to rigging the votes so your comment looks like it has some support).

If the Dems had any proof they would have exposed it. Therefore they are simply accusing based on speculation and are certainly guilty of libel and slander.

Wow, TS, so good of you to appear. Remind me to consider your comments AFTER you come back and PAY your taxes (and jail sentence) which you tried to avoid behind your pathetic corruption. I'm sure your sister is doing her best to gain your assets back, but just stay away from topics related to justice, okay? You have no concept of that.

I may be wrong, but if one of the parties in a court case persistently does not show up, the other party wins the case by default?

Ironic indeed, all the hand wringing from PTP and UDD over "free speech." Yet the moment anyone says anything that doesn't suit them, they use all measures within their means to curtail the right of others to speak as they wish. By the by, Seh Daeng is verified to have been in Dubai during the same period he himself admits he was training and arming militants for a planned confrontation with the government.

Big mistake on Thaksins behalf here. Now he has done this, it will be in the public eye much more often, every step of the trial reported on. He should have stayed quiet.
As for the irony of Thaksin not accepting the Thai courts verdict on his own cases, yet still uses them against opponents. Simply amazing.

At least he did not deny the existence and presence at rallies of the MIB.

The draft dodger said he knew who these MIB are. Surely AV will not dodge the opportunity to arrest and put such dangerous people behind bars? Sadly with so much time on hand, and so many claims of knowing who the MIB are, not a single one of them was arrested.

Either the MIB is a figment of their imagination, used to deceive the public. Or the MIB is indeed real, but the puppet government of AV is an absolute failure at dealing with real threats and only good at jailing political opponents who said the wrong things on stage.

The Dems used to be a capable political party set up to protect the interest of the feudal lords. Now, under the very capable leadership of the draft dodger, it has morphed into a neighborhood old lady's club - where sensational gossips abound.

"they would only sow seeds of hatred and division among the people."

The Dems are too late sowing hatred and division, it was done by the fugitive many many years ago.
