His Majesty the King has sent condolences to Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni over the loss of his father.
"The Queen and I have learnt with deepest sorrow of the passing away of Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk. We would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to Your Majesty and all the members of the royal family as well as the Cambodian people for this great and grievous loss," said His Majesty the King, in a statement released by the Royal Household Bureau yesterday.
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra sent a message to her counterpart Prime Minister Hun Sen, saying the Thai government shared the feeling of loss with the Cambodian people. Former king Sihanouk dedicated his life to the wellbeing of his people and to creating peace in the region, she said. Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul also expressed his sorrow for the death of the former King Sihanouk, who played an important role in developing and strengthening the ties between Thailand and Cambodia.
