Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung said yesterday that a report being cited by yellow-shirt activists about 16 billion baht siphoned from Thailand to Hong Kong was a lie.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong has already debunked the story, he said.
Korkaew Pikulthong, list MP of the ruling Pheu Thai Party, said the report was being used as political ammunition by Mongkolkit Suksintharanon, secretary-general of the Nation Associate Anti-Corruption Network (NACN), a key member of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD). The network chairman is Gen Kittisak Ratprasert who joined the PAD in 2006, he added.
