Pitak Siam rally hopes to oust govt

Organiser Boonlert wants to see a coup

A planned rally on Sunday by the Pitak Siam (Protecting Siam) group may become a sustained protest to expel the Pheu Thai-led government, core organiser Gen Boonlert Kaewprasit says.

The retired general said he would have staged a coup by now if he was in a position to do so, claiming the country is being run by a "puppet government".

"I'd love to see a coup because I know this puppet government is here to rob the country. Several sectors of society can't take it anymore. If I had the power a coup would have been staged by now," he said.

Hummmm very interesting to read this news ....we all know a coup is coming soon but who will be in charge after ???? we need no blood in thailand ,,,,younger people and more educated people ( notThaksin friends ...Thailand deserve to have a new young and strong goverment ... Off course they will do mistake sometime but its the only way to change the old corrupt goverment in place now...stop looking back in the past and look in front and make positive change ....

Once again, Surayud Chulanont and his army classmates trying to stage a coup in the guise of being loyal to the institution and "cleaning corruption".

Riding on the back of the tiger to terrorize political opponents and usurping power will eventually lead to the masses going against the tiger itself.

Society and the beloved institution continues to pay the price for the follies of egoistic generals.

I'd love to see these type whining guys run in an election. They won't of course because they know they would lose badly.

"hope to draw about 25,000 people" Likely pull 2000 if they serve free food, have a good band and give away teeshirts.

Better than a coup: focus on educating the people. I would love to see everyone in the world have a college education. Than it would be harder to placate the masses with token benefits while those in charge steal the tax money for themselves.

Finally, I see what the face of a sour loser looks like. He should have known by now after more than a dozen coups that they are not the answer to Thailand's problems. Unless, he wants Thailand to go backward in time like Myanmar has gone through, of course. Politics is the art of persuading others to agree with your point of view, not rolling tanks on the streets and depose a democratically elected Govt, OK?

Apparently this fine chap has never heard of democracy, and is unaware that the government was elected by the people and with a huge majority.

"Gen Boonlert said "I'd love to see a coup because I know this puppet government is here to rob the country. Several sectors of society can't take it anymore. If I had the power a coup would have been staged by now. The government has showed itself to be Thaksin's puppet,he said, adding that by installing his sister Yingluck as prime minister,Thaksin had insulted the entire nation".

"Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday said the government would stumble on its own corruption and meet its demise".

    Spot on.
