Poll: Rally justification thin

The Pitak Siam group does not have sufficient reason to hold an anti-government rally on Sunday, say 44% of those surveyed by the Suan Dusit Poll.

The pollsters from Suan Dusit Rajabhat University interviewed 1,318 people from Oct 23-26 to seek their opinions on the event planned for the Royal Turf Club in Bangkok.

They said 44.4% of the respondents said there was no justification for Pitak Siam, led by Gen Boonlet Kaewprasit, to rally against the government at this time.

"Unbelievable how many farang on these sites support military coups"

I think you misunderstand, these "farang" don't support the Shinawatra coup !!!!
Why do you say "farang" ? The Bposters could be also Thai, African, Asian, Arabian....

Considering that the 2006 coup put the country into turmoil and did not remove the Shinawatras from political power, I don't see why people think another coup would do any better.

Here's a reason - the government is run by nepotistic proxy by a convicted criminal with 2 arrest warrants hiding in Dubai. Not enough of a reason? There are MP's now in office who were directly involved in the murder of soldiers, police, and civilians, and wide scale arson across the country in 2010. There is documented evidence that Thaksin and his mobs receive direct funding from the US State Department and large US lobbying firms to perpetuate their political activities.

The actions of the fugitive and his cronies are quickly building up the support for a new coup.

There is no reason to do Poll about Pitak Siam group to hold an anti-government rally.
A democratic country has to respect the freedom of expression...

It seems from other articles in today's paper there is a good reason to hold a protest. The reason the poll has the outcome stated is because the average Thai thinks to complain is wrong.Head in the sand mentality. If left to there own devices this governable will ruin the country that is not to say the opposition would not do the same. All I hear is" what is in it for me"from top to bottom side to side.

  • Discussion 3 : 27 Oct 2012 at 12.123

Yes #1 they have the right to protest, but not the right to promote a military coup, which is against the constitution of the country.

  • Discussion 2 : 27 Oct 2012 at 11.372

No reason to rally and no support from majority public means no need to change the existing government.
