Rally begins at RTC

Today's rally at the Royal Turf Club, or the Nang Loeng racecourse, will not drag on beyond 5.30pm, Gen Boonlert Kaewprasit said on Sunday morning.

Speaking in an interview with the Nation Channel, Gen Boonlert, also known as Seh Ai, reaffirmed that the intentions of organising the rally were to attack the government for allowing people to insult the monarchy without taking action against them, for being a nominee of deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, and for corrupt practices, particularly involving the rice-pledging scheme.

Asked to comment on the result of an opinion poll which indicated that he did not have enough reasons to justify holding the rally, Gen Boonlert said he was not worried, claiming that he had received a lot of phone calls giving him moral support.

To me the glaring truth here is that Peu Thai have proved without a doubt that they are the preferred party.

1000 protesters vs 450 police. Police are outnumbered over 2:1. I think they can do nothing only watch.

There is no update news about Boonlert's rally from Bangkokpost since 11:54 am. Is it a successful one as claimed by Boonlert, or it has already failed as expected by others?

It won't be difficult to work out that the missing words at the end of my previous post (D7)were: "given to the Democrats' much smaller rally"

Can you substantiate your figures? The latest poll I saw showed 60+% wanted the present government to continue to the end of its term.

He must be dreaming, 50 000 people. lol. If he gets 5 000 he will be lucky.

D1 The PM has an approval rating of 70%, so your figures are the wrong way round.

nowayout (D4): Yesterday's large vehicle procession through Bangkok was organised by the Red Shirts as a response to the recent demonstration by the Democrats which attempted to draw attention to the alleged role of the "Men In Black". It had nothing to do with today's event at the RTC. The Red Shirts laid wreaths at the locations where people lost their lives during Aril and May 2010.

The reason you did not know about this event was that it was given virtually no coverage in the media, the English language media anyway, apart from a photograph and brief caption in the BP. This was, of course, in stark contrast to the extensive coverage gi

d4: there was a rally yesterday by the red-shirts. And there were a lot more there than the measly 1,000 in this one. The size of a rally is one of the ways to gauge the level of popular support one has.
