Forest Department suspends encroachment prosecutions

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has instructed the Royal Forest Department (RFD) to suspend prosecutions against alleged forest encroachers pending a re-examination of evidence.

The aim is to ensure fairness, RFD director-general Boonchob Sutthamanuswong said yesterday.

The department has stepped up action against forest encroachers this year, focusing on resort operators in popular tourist spots such as Nakhon Ratchasima's Wang Nam Khieo.

It's not clear in the article but seems to me that the resort owners with connections succeeded in getting the action suspended hiding behind the unfair eviction of poor forest dwellers who's traditional land is deemed to be on forest land, therefore turfing them out. So, both lots get to stay, we thus have to turn a blind eye to greedy millionaires to get justice for the poor.

It was to be expected. They should Confiscate them and sell them to the highest bidder and give the coffers to the country or charity and I do not mean the government charity!
