City told to pay 20% to fire victims

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has been found liable for 20% of the compensation due to 12 relatives of those killed or seriously injured in the Santika Pub fire during New Year celebrations on Jan 1, 2009.

The Central Administrative Court yesterday yesterday ruled the BMA was negligent in its duties. The nightclub owners will be liable for the rest of the compensation payment.

Led by Esther Yean Chen, the lawsuit against the BMA was filed by 12 family members of those killed or seriously injured in the tragedy.
