The "lower" House? Lower? May be a lot of people would argue with you over that statement.

Your nationality is defined by your passport, not by your looks or place of birth...So, she is just American.

Ploydonut - Glad to see you think it is right that Ms Ladda (a thai in your eyes) has been elected (and also voted in the US election) I take it that you would agree with the idea that foreign residents in Thailand should be able to stand for parliament and vote in Thai elections?? If you don't then you have no right to espouse the achievements of this lady and the democratic values of equality and inclusiveness that she stands for.

How did Yingluck already get to shake Obama's hand. Amazing Thailand! Perhaps she can get some pointers from Barack on how to further make people dependent on the government and therefore sell you their vote. PT is pretty good at it, but liberals have it down better. Neither believe in teaching a man to fish.
And congrats to Ms. Duckworth. How about now some foreigners being allowed to run for office in Thailand?

D 2 nailed it. This lady is every bit as Thai as Thaiger Woods. If there hadn't been a Vietnam war, neither of these people would have escaped humble backgrounds to have the opportunities they have made use of. Cut out the nationalistic silliness and fix your education system so people don't have to leave the country to be successful.

Please let's stay grounded here - she is Thai-American not Thai. She would have never had these opportunities in Thailand in either education, serving the army, and serving her country. Has anyone noticed she has always served America? That makes her American, not Thai.
