Abhisit defends City Hall over arena delay

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday defended City Hall over Fifa's decision to not use the Bangkok Futsal Arena (BFA) for the ongoing 2012 Futsal World Cup.

The construction of the BFA was largely delayed by last year's flood, Mr Abhisit said, noting the final stage of the arena was not slated for completion until April next year, according to the construction agreement.

He was responding to questions raised by Pheu Thai MP for Bangkok Jirayu Huangsap against the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) during a House session yesterday.

If the stadium was not due to be completed until April next year then why are they doing the games now?? Good job London didn't have the same idea. They would still be building the stadium now, long after the Olympics have finished.

Watched a game of Futsal on TV last night and there was no crowd, the only supporters were coaches and family members. If this is a world event why is no one watching!?
"the BMA would then file a lawsuit against Fifa for damaging the city's reputation", why not sue yourself for not completing the stadium as requested, safely and on time!?
