SONGKHLA : Political conflict was the most likely motive for the slaying of Songkhla municipality mayor Peera Tantiserane, police say.
Peera, 54, was gunned down on Wednesday night after meeting southern NGOs to discuss the safety of radioactive material stored in the area.
Police earlier suspected the killing might be connected to a row over the radioactive material stored by a company in downtown Songkhla, which had upset residents. However, officers have now discounted that theory.
