'Evil Krabi' video not entirely true, say police

KRABI - The chief of Krabi police has denied an angry father's claim that police allowed "easy" bail for a tour guide accused of raping a foreign tourist.

Large numbers of tourists have cancelled their trips to Krabi after a video clip Evil man from Krabi was posted on the internet.

It accuses provincial authorities of allowing "easy" bail for Thai tour guide accused of bashing and raping a 19 year-old Dutch model.

"I don't know why the Thai police are bearing the brunt of this. They caught the guy and gathered the evidence. A judge was the one who allowed bail."

The evidence that makes it or doesn't make it to the court and the quality thereof is controlled by the police. Are there factors anyone can think of that could impact this?

I would be the first to acknowledge that there are many lies, bogus conspiracies, and false claims spread on the internet. That said - the Thai police have decades of corruption to overcome before anyone (including Thai people) will ever believe them. The Thai gov't (and Thai people) need to understand that lies are much more difficult to cover-up in an era of cell phone cameras, Google, YouTube, FaceBook, etc. I do not think Thailand is unsafe for tourists. But I do believe that justice is nearly impossible to get for falangs when dealing with the Thai justice system. Lies about murders, rapes, deaths, etc. have gone on too long

I've been to Krabi many times and have always felt safe but evidently crime does occur including rape as in other parts of Thailand.

Unfortunately, Thai Authorities take assaults of this kind against Foreigners all too lightly except when someone on high steps in to protect the wider area of business - then you realise it's all about money - there are no other values.

On a side note. It would be interesting to find out how many of the criminals that were last pardoned, I think 10,000, are still out of jail and not committing crimes.

A truly great way to protest this act. Foreigners show the way to handle corruption in Thailand. Lets not go blindly protecting the country. Dozens of cases each month where a culprit is caught and it is then revealed that the culprit had x number of cases pending against him or her. Why are such people allowed back on the streets? I used the word Thai authorities and not just the police. Let us face the truth, public life is losing it's standard in the country.

I don't know why the Thai police are bearing the brunt of this. They caught the guy and gathered the evidence. A judge was the one who allowed bail. Another slap in the face of the Thai court system.

Who you gonna believe, a Thai police general or the victims father? Where is Yingluck on the issue of rape? I only hope of these clips come out and show the world what Thai justice and crime against foreigners is really about.

The comments under the Youtube clip, give a very clear insight of how Thai see their Men in Brown. To put it nicely, they're not too fond of them. To put it less nicely, most Thais hate the police more than flooding, dengue or centipedes.

A total Thai slap in the face with no mention of condolences to the family let alone an apology. It is ALL about protecting the trumped up TAT image of Thailand while tourists are on their own. Saving face is more important than saving lives. Thai police will post their own account on YouTube? This ought to be a hoot!

The judge and police should be fired. I'll stick with the victim and boycott Krabi until there's justice.
