Cyclist killed by drunk driver

A man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving in the death of a bicyclist on Bang Na-Trat Road early Saturday morning.

Police, fire and emergency workers called to the scene at Km 8 of the busy road in Bangkok's eastern suburbs found a Chevrolet ablaze on the highway shoulder.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to put out the fire. They then discovered the charred remains of an unidentified man in his twenties inside the car. His right leg was missing.

If the police would do their jobs in this country, we would have a lot less social, economical, and environmental problems.

D3. Wasn't the reason the Red Bull scion has not been charged is because the BIB had to get crash data from his cars "black box" interpreted to prove he was speeding. It appears no one here can read Italian - ciao

Norway's department of transport had accepted and approvated the cardriver with drivelicens from Thailand in serveral years to drive a car in Norwegian roads. Last year, they deleted it from the approval list. Now on people who gets married to norwegian and move to Norway. They must learn the theory exam and practical exam from beginning. The cost of driver licens in Norway is apx. 250.000 Thai baths, It is not easy to approach the driver licens but it is very easy to loose it !!!... Drunk driver is one of the reasons , that Thailands drive licens is not longer can approved

Maybe one day the police in Thailand will start enforcing the drunk driving laws. As suggested by the UN earlier this week. So sad to lose another young life, and another ruined for driving under the influence. The driver should spend a loooooong time in jail.

"Takrit Boonyanichiyakul, 33, has been detained and charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol."

The scion of the Redbull empire was never detained, even though he was guilty of everything Takrit did plus being under the influence of cocaine.

Yet another drug death of an innocent. Isn't it time that killer drugs were made illegal?

just awful, sympathies go out to the victim's family! I hope the authorities take the appropriate action here and punish to the fullest extent of the law because it is truly merited in this case. Very sad story
