The government will invite US President Barack Obama to the final match of the 2012 Futsal World Cup next Sunday during his visit to Thailand.

Mr Obama is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok on the day of the final. Hot favourites Spain proved much too strong for the Thais, who got a consolation goal from Kritsada Wongkaeo late in the match.Mr Obama will also be invited to the Futsal World Cup closing ceremony afterwards, he added. It would be an honour to have one of the world's most influential leaders as a guest, Mr Thossaporn said.Meanwhile, Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said the party has looked into the construction of the Bangkok Futsal Arena in Nong Chok district by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).Mr Prompong said the party will submit a petition Monday to the Office of the Auditor-General to launch a formal investigation...

I'd like to see a schedule if and when Obama will appear in public. It'd be pretty cool to catch a glimpse of my president while I'm living over here.

Hua Mak stadium won't pass the safety, let alone security details of the US president team. Last time I was there many years ago I noticed lots of trash collecting on the floor under the seats that won't pass any fire safety inspection.

"The government will invite US President Barack Obama to the final match of the 2012 Futsal World Cup next Sunday during his visit to Thailand". I don´t think the President is here on holiday - the Government should spend the time more wisely and discuss business opportunities between Thailand and US. Just an opinion !

Americans have 100% zero interest in this kind of football. Obama could not name the sides playing if someone did not whisper it into his ear. Their is no political gain for him one way or the other, so trust me......he could not care less about it.

I'm sure the American tax payers would not be pleased if Obama goes to see a Futsal Ball Game on tax payers money.

Do they think that Obama will be able to make the time to visit the futsal stadium. His schedule is times to within minutes and they want the president to go there to save Thai face.

Surely there are more important things to do than watch a tinpot football tournament. When you visit once in a blue moon there has to be other items on the agenda

Instead of going to a soccer match, I wish he could rub elbows with the
average Thai. They are the heart and soul of this country. Instead of going to
a soccer match, why not visit a rice field and talk to a farmer? Oh well, nevermind.
