Police post reply to 'Evil Krabi' video

KRABI - Police in Krabi have uploaded a video clip "The Truth from Krabi" to YouTube to explain the legal process in connection with the sexual assault of a Dutch tourist by a Thai tour guide and to counter the claim by the victim's father that authorities allowed "easy" bail for the suspect.

In the four-and-a-half minute clip, with no English subtitles, police say Krabi’s tourism sector had been hit hard by the "Evil Man from Krabi" clip posted on the internet last month by the father of the 19-year-old model.

According to the father, the tour guide was able to avoid police for about a month and he was allowed "easy" bail by the authorities after being captured. He also details other violent incidents in the in Ao Nang area involving tourists that he claims were covered up by the authorities.

The police should brief the prosecutor to object the defendent's bail out application during the first hearing before the judge. But the police might not have done so.

LIKE many things in Thailand ( !!!!! ) the Thai police is not credible, it is corrupted like most Thai organizations (POWER + MONEY == CORRUPTION ).. Have you ever noticed that whenever the Thai police make an arrest , they are 10 of them posing for the official picture. YESS they like to enjoy the spotlight.. Where are they should you need them ?

"The laws in Thaiand, and the Netherlands, are different." Yes, allowing bail for a person who confesed to committing this crime is most-certainly different.

Remember what Sutep and the Pad said that he didnt care what foreigners said and the pad that all foreigners should go home is that not enough for foreigners to understand.I wont be recommending Thailand anymore to my friends and colleagues. And ive always spoken highly of Thailand and its people. What happened?

I'm not sure who is the audience for the authorities You Tube video ? If it is the Thai citizens,
in my experience most simply don't care. Life is cheap a hundred thousand baht and Your out of jail.
There are give or take 7 billion souls on this planet. Of them nearly 1 billion [ according to the census, who speak English ]. So why post a You Tube rebuttal in Thai ? That is less than 1/10 th of a percent of the population of the world. Exactly who are you trying to reach ? If you want your side
represented do it in English, a language that is understood internationally.

Tourism is not there for the rape. Rape is not for tourism.

Hey u must understand that Thailand doesnt want Foreigners to stay here live here and thats showen in the visas they give to you on arrival. My Thai wife and daughter is welcomed to my country and can stay indefinately and entitled to same privilages as me but here in Thailand they cant even let you have a decent visa even if your families Thai.Same as this case and many other serious cases in Thailand, you never get to see the outcome of the courts final jugement. Its a very scarey country where you better believe tourist are always wrong.Hate to think what this case will do for tourism. If you think the police in Krabi dont care, come to pattaya

While I am not at all familiar with all the details of this case I noticed a 'couple' holding hands in the Thai police video. In Thailand, if you hold the hand of a man you are a 'couple' so to speak. So if there is any lesson to be learnt here, females who visit Thailand should NEVER HOLD HANDS WITH A THAI MAN unless you agree to do what most couples do. A Thai woman wouldn't so neither should you. When in Rome......

I think most of the posters here, as well as most of the socalled "Thai netizens" misunderstand the purpose of this video. This video was not made and uploaded to save the tourism industry, which the Thai police could not care less about. It was made and uploaded in order for the Krabi police to save face in the eyes of their fellow Thais, especially hiso hotel owners and officials in Krabi, whose respect they do actually care about. This explains why it is in Thai, and not english.

Having dinner with somebody doesn't mean he is allowed to beat up and rape the dinner partner, nor does it mean that it's automatically an invitation to having consensus... or certainly not non-consensus sex - and this goes for neither Europe, Thailand or anywhere in the world. Where are the women's equal rights organisations in Thailand in this case... if there are any equal rights.
