Govt prepares quake manuals

Manuals providing post-quake evacuation and earthquake preparation instructions for Thais _ especially those living in three at-risk provinces _ will soon be distributed, says the director of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Policy Bureau.

Montree Chanachaiviboonwat yesterday said the manuals will explain how to evacuate to safety if an earthquake takes place, adding that the manuals are part of a bureau project to study the impact of earthquakes in Thailand.

Mr Montree said the pilot study has drawn up an earthquake risk map for Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi and Bangkok.
