'Security Act' for Pitak Siam rally

National police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew said Wednesday he will propose that the government invoke the Internal Security Act to oversee Pitak Siam’s second mass rally beginning on Nov 24 at the Royal Plaza.

Pol Gen Adul admitted that reports that a group of people had contributed a total of six billion baht to a fund for  the ousting of the Yingluck Shinawatra government matched information in a Special Branch Police intelligence report.

He said the same group also supported the “anti-government rallygoers”, but declined to give further details.

Thailand's constitution - both the 2007 and 1997 constitutions - give people the right to protest against the government as long as that protest is peaceful and abides by the laws.

I can't see why at this point in time the police or the government need to invoke the draconian ISA - the very law they opposed passage of when they were not the government - as there has been no violence or threat of violence.

This is simply another example of how, despite knowing how to win elections with budget busting giveaways, the Shinawatra regime has no respect for democracy and is authoritarian in nature.

Interesting how the BIB is preparing for the forthcoming rally yet were willing to stand back when another group closed down the city. Interesting how the BIB want to enact the Internal Security Act on something that has not even occurred yet, but were willing to stand back and let the city burn!!!!!!
