Samet resorts to be dismantled

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Preecha Rengsomboonsuk confirmed Thursday authorities will demolish three illegal resorts on Koh Samet in Rayong province but will wait until the Legal Execution Department finishes putting up demolition notices at all of them.

A court has already issued a verdict that the three resorts -- Ploy Samet Resort, Mook Samet and Unseen Resort -- encroached on Khao Lam Ya and Moo Koh Samet National Park, Mr Preecha said.

However, the ministry will have to wait for the Legal Execution Department to erect demolition notices at Mok Samet and Unseen Resort on Saturday. It erected a notice at Ploy Samet Resort last Sunday.

Just clean up Samet and all Thai islands , just thilfy . I have not been back to Samet for years because you have to pay for national park but the money went nowhere ,plastic bags and rubbish everywhere , while park rangers sit in a hut collect money and allow illegal resorts to be built . It's a joke ,if that happened in Aus or USA these clowns would be sacked and face possible jail time .

Unfortunately it has never been explained how these and other resorts came to be built on National Park land in the first place. Sadly Thailand's misuse of defamation laws may make such reporting impossible, but such an explanation would help in understanding these stories.

We need a guy like him in Samui and Phuket, ..... come to think of it, ... all over the country. Maybe something the government should (must) pursue if they were not so occupied with so much nonsense.

Nothing about those who closed a blind eye or falcifying documents that allowing the places to be built in the first place.
