Seh Ai: No violence at rally

The anti-government rally at the Royal Plaza on Nov 24 will be shut down immediately if any violence takes place, says Pitak Siam leader Boonlert Kaewprasit.

Gen Boonlert made the pledge on Saturday as an economist warned that if the rally is prolonged and turns violent, it could severely hurt the country's economy.

Gen Boonlert, alias Seh Ai, also insisted the rally would not be prolonged and said there would be no seizure of any government offices as some have feared.

    Even with the ISA 2 years ago, people will still be out and about at night in Bangkok. That goes to show how useless the ISA actually is.

    D11; the Government had better done it in 2010 to stop the red’s that turned their rallies into violent evens.

    This is exactly what the red-shirts and their master in Dubai need , a bloody coup in their favour. Bec. with all their power that they have now, they cannot get legally what they really want.

    Any political rally in the world can turn violent, if extremists or third-hand party plans and provokes it. Every organizer knows that, but it is not a reason to call a rally off. Most of the protesters want to express their frustration about the performance of this government in a peaceful way, as they did on the first rally. Now that many political groups including yellow shirts and students have announced that they will attend the second rally and hundred thousands are expected to join, the outcome of this rally will become unpredictable. The military and the organizers say that ISA is not necessary but I think the government will invoke t

    Disc 17 - I agree. One would think that if another coup happened, in the near future, that there would be resistance on a mass scale in certain areas of the country and eventually it would move into Bangkok.

    Dis 12 – How do you know it would be a bloodless coup this time around?

    ISA isn't needed at this point, IMHO. If the situation gets out of hand or protesters try to disrupt parliament then is the time to invoke it quickly but temporarily. The last thing Thailand needs is another 6 months of ISA.

    Apparently big panic on the red front and their gullible sympathizers!!! First all was ok, no counter rallies, no special measures.... now the cowardly spirit has taken the upper hand and they want ISA, threats and counter rallies??? LOL and LOL......truth coming out must really hurt them!

    @Discussion 11

    Yes, if they invoke the ISA before the rally then there is no benefit in the rally becoming violent, as it could never lead to a coup.

    Why do you think the rally organisers are saying "no need for the ISA" ?

    If the ISA was not in place and the rally turned violent, then the chances of a coup rise very quickly. So it makes sense to invoke the ISA first.

    This will be a game of attrition in my view, if the ISA is invoked there will be no violence, then another rally will be planned, and again if the ISA is invoked, no violence - keep trying until you get a rally where the ISA is not invoked and then..............

    Violence, Look Who's Talking - no matter what happens at the rally, the violence will not be even a fraction of the violence that the reds unleashed on Bangkok and the other provinces. And who takes responsibiity for that violence? It is either the P.T who supported the reds, the red leaders or that criminal running overseas. The government in it's present form of family control is an INSULT to the word democracy.
